A day spent in Shonan is bound to be a great one. You can experience the ocean, food, drives and scenic spots from morning til night.

When you wake up at Blue Lagoon, first and foremost it’s time for breakfast. Take a 10-minute walk to “KOMOPAN” which you will find full of local regulars right when they open. Their freshly baked bread is guaranteed to draw you in. Get your bread and coffee to-go and head to the beach. The “Koshigoe” point is just another 10-minute walk away. Enjoy a picnic on the beach, but steer clear of black kites!

After breakfast, it’s time to try surfing! “T-REEF SURF & SUP SCHOOL,” run by the host of Blue Lagoon, is popular from beginners to experienced surfers. You can rent surfboards and wetsuits for a fee, so as long as you’ve got on a bathing suit and a towel, you are good to go. First, you’ll be taught the basics on the beach by a private instructer. Next, you’ll head to the ocean, the instructor will guide you into the water and off you go! You’re sure to leave the lesson wanting to come back again.

After surfing class, head to the Italian restaurant “Siciliana” in Shichirigahama. Their attention-grabbing menu consists of many local seafood and vegetables. It’ll pair nicely with white wine as well..

After lunch, take a stroll from Shichirigahama to Enoshima. Take Route 134 along the coastline and you’ll be there in less than an hour. The next destination is the natural hot spring spa, “Enoshima Island Spa,” where you can relax both your body and soul. The sunset from the open-air spa is superb!

For dinner, we recommend “marisqueria morimori,” a Spanish restaurant where you can enjoy delicious seafood. To get there, take the shuttle to Enoshima station and from there, take the Enoden bus back to Shichirigahama. Their paella cooked with the special seafood soup stock is very popular. To end the day, head to “Bar d,” located near Enoshima station and enjoy a calm atmosphere filled with jazz music. Toast with a cocktail recommended by the bartender! After the day you’ve had, you’ll find yourself wanting to stay another day…

From savory to sweet bread all rich in flavor, each are made using 13 different kinds of domestic wheat. The interior of the shop was inspired by the movie “Honokaa Boy” which took place in Hawaii. You’ll find the shop full of surfers on their way back from the ocean. Start your day with a large Malasada (162 yen) paired with a coffee from “The Good Goodies” (486 yen). You can take a short walk to the beach and enjoy it there.

The school is run by Tadao Tominaga, the host of Blue Lagoon and one of the best surfers in the area. Mr. Tominaga and his friends know the waves of Kamakura very well and will choose the best location for you depending on the time of day. Siciliana

Located on the second floor along Shichirigahama beach, you can enjoy the magnificent views of the ocean. Enjoy Italian dishes made with local ingredients with a beautiful scenery that changes every hour. The popular lunch course comes with an appetizer, some pasta, and main course for 1,880 yen. There are also other items on the menu that go well with wine. This 12-year-old restaurant is Shichirigahama’s own Sicilian Trattoria.

Enoshima Island Spa

The only place in the Enoshima area where you can experience natural hot springs. The beautiful silhouette of Mt. Fuji and the ocean will surely impress you. You can rent towels and swimwear, so you can walk in empty-handed and still experience everything. The usage fees will vary depending on the season. Please check their website.

After sunset, visit this restaurant near the beach to experience the perfect taste of Spain. The location in front of Shichirigahama station is also convenient too. In the evening, the locals get together, grab a drink and eat tapas. But what brings them in is the signature item, “paella” (from 2,585 yen). This Catalonian style paella is cooked with seafood broth by owner/chef, Kazuo Moriyama, who is also the director for the Japan Paella Association.

Bar d

Enter another world in this bar located in front of Enoshima station. The interior of the bar is Old Havana inspired and was opened eight years ago by bartender Takeshi Tanabe, who made a name for himself in Ginza, Tokyo. Customers can enjoy cigars at the counter while soft Jazz plays in the background. Bartenders recommend the Mojito (1,400 yen) and Martini (1,600 yen). Seating fee is 500 yen.
